One drop at a time...

I've been fortunate this week to take a swim in the Atlantic Ocean whilst on holiday in the IL's De Re which is a beautiful island off of La Rochelle in France.
Whilst stood on the beach watching the waves crashing it got me thinking about just how powerful the ocean is. The waves rolling in after many, many miles of travelling, building momentum as they go.
My observation in this moment was that it is very similar to high-performing teams. The Atlantic Ocean is made up of roughly 82 billion gallons of water, I couldn't even begin to estimate how many drops of water that consists of but it would have many many noughts in the answer. Each individual drop comes together to make a unit, an incredibly powerful unit.

This is exactly how I do what I do at AB Performance, I bring individuals together to create a powerful team, a team that can adapt to a situation, can find ways round obstacles and like a rolling wave keep moving forward in the face of adversity.
The individual drop in the ocean is also very similar to each individual thought that we have during a day, a week a month. If we continuously plant positive drops we build momentum becoming strong and confident like a wave crashing.
The key thing in all of this whether it's bringing a team together, or working on our internal dialogue, it all takes time. It takes time for the drops to become a litre, a gallon, then 82 billion gallons. It's the same with any change process, it takes time and nurturing.
However, when you have it cracked the momentum and power is like nothing else. The world is your ocean...
